Now this is the story of all about how
My life got flipped, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of Delta-air
Our flight was delayed several hours in Orlando by rain both there and in Atlanta. Eventually, after several ticket changes, we got a flight with a 48 hour layover in JFK. Several hours go by, and I eventually get to speak to a manager. *this is where the travel agent bargaining chip came in handy* After a stern talk with the manager about how it is unacceptable to give us a 48 hour layover due to rain; he miraculously finds a flight with only 11 hour layover, and we are on first class to JFK.
Once we get to JFK the fun begins. Brei and Charlie are kind enough to give us a room for the night, and we wander new york in the morning before our, supposed, flight at 2:30. We make it to the airport, have some lunch, and start to board the plane. Foiled again. We find out that our connecting flight from form Paris to Dublin has been canceled and we have a direct flight from JFK to Dublin. This is both good and bad news considering the new flight is at 10:30. Back out to Manhattan we go.
We made it through central park, had dinner with Brei and Charlie, and make it back to the airport. The plane is delayed from 10:30 to 11:45. As the time gets closer we find out that the plane is also overbooked by 15 people. Good job delta. After finding out that our boarding passes were good we sat and waited for the desperate delta employees to start offering incentives to give up out precious tickets. Over the loudspeaker we hear "$400, I mean uh, $600 in Delta bucks for anyone giving up their seat." this is my chance. After a little bit of wiggling with the man behind the counter, Brian and I are on first class from JFK to London, with a coach connecting flight, and First class back home.
